How much does PitchBook cost? PitchBook quotes its pricing through sales, and as of November 2026 we could not find published prices on pitchbook.com. Vendr, a software purchasing platform, estimates a median contract of $30,000 per year, with a range of $20,000 to $124,500. Actual pricing is quoted by PitchBook and varies with seats, firm type and add-ons.
Full disclosure: we sell a family office database, so for buyers who want family office contacts we are an alternative to PitchBook. This page answers the pricing question with sources, then explains what the price buys for family office work. PitchBook facts come from its own pages and from its parent company Morningstar, read on 1 November 2026.
What PitchBook publishes about pricing
PitchBook's pricing page carries a request form and no published prices or plan names. Its FAQ states that pricing options vary depending on how many seats you need and your firm type, and that another consideration is whether you want premium offerings such as Direct Data or CRM integration. The same page says the platform includes complimentary access to the PitchBook Mobile app, and that PitchBook will see whether a free trial might be right for you after you fill out a form.
As of November 2026, we could not find published monthly pricing on pitchbook.com.
How PitchBook sets prices, per Morningstar
Morningstar, PitchBook's parent company, answers investor questions on its shareholder site. In a reply dated 25 March 2026, it states that pricing decisions are made on a contract-by-contract basis, informed by the depth and breadth of a client's engagement with the platform, and that PitchBook seeks expansion at renewal, including price increases where appropriate. It also notes that its direct data product is not seat based.
In a reply dated 25 August 2026, Morningstar states that it is actively evaluating a more modular approach to how PitchBook is packaged and priced. It describes a pilot of expanded premium connector access that still requires at least one full platform license, and testing of a separate direct MCP capability for consumption-based use cases. Pricing structures may change as that work progresses.
PitchBook cost estimates from named third parties
Because PitchBook quotes through sales, price points come from third parties. Treat all of the following as estimates, as of November 2026, and confirm with PitchBook directly:
- Vendr (a software purchasing platform) states that the median buyer pays $30,000 per year, with a low of $20,000 and a high of $124,500, based on data from 123 purchases (page last updated February 2026).
- Pipeline Road (a capital raising platform that also sells an investor database, so a competitor) states on a comparison page dated 25 March 2026 that PitchBook runs $20,000 to $36,000 per year per seat.
- Failory (a startup resource site) lists customer-reported quotes in an article updated January 2024, including about $24,000 per year for three users. That figure is older than the others.
Actual pricing is quoted by PitchBook and varies. For comparison, we list estimates for a peer platform in how much Preqin costs, and published prices across the market in family office database pricing.
What PitchBook does well
PitchBook is one of the deepest company and deal research platforms in private markets. Its pages describe data on companies, investors, funds and deals, a data operations team of 1,800+ professionals, and data updated multiple times a day.
For family office research, its limited partners page lists family offices among its LP types, with commitments by fund type, investment preferences, past commitments and connections to GPs, funds and professionals. A team that researches deals and investors every day gets the full value of that subscription.
What the price buys for family office outreach
If your job is narrower, such as reaching family offices for one raise, most of a research platform may go unused. What that job needs is a list of family offices, the people who make decisions, and a way to reach them, in a format your CRM and email tools accept.
Active Family Offices sells that list as a one-time Excel file. Every listing is reviewed and verified by a team of humans and has a verified website or LinkedIn company page. Each row covers office type, location, thesis, investment domains and up to three top decision-makers. For the USA and other allowed countries, it adds personal LinkedIn profiles and verified work emails. The whole team can use the file, and the accuracy guarantee is published on each product page.
