Email template: Get a warm introduction to a family office
Share
In my previous blog post, I shared a brief guide on how to get warm introductions to family offices.
Once you find someone who can make a meaningful introduction and receive their consent to do so, you should send the introducer a professional email requesting the intro.
At this point, the introducer already understands your proposition and why you need the introduction to the specific family office in question. The purpose of this email is to help the introducer explain that to the decision maker in the family office, with minimal effort (and without distorting your message).
Ideally, the introducer will simply forward your email to the decision maker, with a single line added: Would you like me to make this introduction?
So this email should include:
a. A brief explanation as to why you want to connect with the specific family office (and decision-maker).
b. A quick summary of what you do or the opportunity you want to present.
c. A few clear data points demonstrating that what you do is exciting and timely.
d. A link or attachment that allows the recipients to learn more about you.
c. Contact details, to make it easy to connect and go to the next step.

Here's the template for an email requesting an intro to a decision maker in a family office:
Subject line:
Introducing {my company name} to Jane Doe from ABC Family Office
Email body:
Hi {introducer name},
Following our last conversation, I would highly appreciate an introduction to Jane Doe from ABC Family Office.
I believe ABC Family Office could be an ideal parner for us, as I've read about their previous investment in XXX.
We are currently raising capital for a time-sensitive opportunity in the YYY sector.
Here comes one clear sentence describing what you do.
Key facts:
- Exciting fact/datapoint about the market opportunity.
- Exciting fact/datapoint about your traction and achievements.
- We are excited to have with us {names of impressive existing investors and partners}.
I attach a one-pager/short deck with additional information.
Many thanks,

That's it. This will allow the introducer to move things forward immediately, and will help convince the family office's decision-maker that they should want to get introduced to you and meet you.
